Nebraska adds European and USFL Veteran
The Nebraska Trail Blazers have announced the addition of former European champion and USFL veteran Russ Molzahn as an assistant coach. Molzahn brings 22-years of college, pro, and semi-pro experience to the second-year minor league team based in Omaha. The 'Blazers open on the road in Minneapolis June 17th. Molzahn's coaching career began in the semi-pros in 1976, where his teams won 1 League, and 5 Division Championships in 5 years. He then served as an assistant coach at Pasadena City College (1980-82, 93-95), where he was part of the 1980 National Championship team. In 1984 and 1985, Molzahn served as Director of Game Scouting and Assistant Marketing Director of the Los Angeles Express of the USFL. From 1988-92, Molzahn was a Head Coach in the European League of American Football, winning National titles with the Cardiff Mets (Wales) and the Coventry Jaguars (England). While at California Polytechnic University, in Pomona, CA his teams were 24-4-1. Russ Molzahn comes to the 'Blazers after a brief 2-year retirement from coaching. Russ and his family reside in Council Bluffs
